The Vermont BioSciences Alliance and the Vermont Technology Alliance are hosting an online BYOBio and Tech Beer event on on Thursday, July 16 featuring a discussion on “The Vermontilator: an Emergency Ventilator from UVM in Response to the COVID Crisis.” Discussing the project will be Dr. Jason Bates, professor of Medicine, Molecular Physiology & Biophysics, and Electrical & Biomedical Engineering at UVM.

A team of scientists, engineers and doctors at the University of Vermont led by Dr. Bates developed a simple, inexpensive ventilator – dubbed “the Vermontilator” – in response to the demand for the equipment to treat patients with COVID-19.

UVM engineer Carl Silver holds a prototype of the emergency ventilator.

Since we can't meet at Queen City Brewery as usual, we will be raffling three 6-packs to three lucky participants.
