Inntopia Finds Bigger Home for Burlington Office in Technology Park

Inntopia recently moved its Burlington operations to a larger space in South Burlington’s Technology Park, home of the famed Whales Tails sculpture. The move from the Chace Mill on the banks of the Winooski River gives the company an efficient workspace in a more environmentally friendly building, which in turn will increase operating efficiency, allow room for growth, and give engineers in the area another good reason to work for Inntopia.

Inntopia has signed a five-year lease on the new 4,825 square-foot space composed of a large common area with flexible configuration options, five meeting rooms, and a large kitchen. The new office is located within an LEED certified building in one of the most sustainable office parks in Vermont.

Technology Park provides easy access to the airport, maintains several recreational trails surrounding the park and Whales Tails, has abundant parking, and is convenient to public transportation.

“It’s important for us to provide a first-class office space for our team that allows room for expansion as we grow. Our new environment helps us collaborate across the engineering department, so we can build more innovative products. I am really excited to join the Technology Park community, and they have been very welcoming,” commented Katharine Bodan, VP Engineer at Inntopia.

Five Inntopia Offices

Inntopia presently employs 118 staff members across five offices. The new South Burlington office is dog-friendly and home to about 30 Inntopia employees, most of whom are software engineers and developers, product owners, and scrum masters. The Stowe office houses about 40 employees, the majority of whom work in partner services, documentation, sales, and marketing. The remaining staff members are spread between the Edwards and Denver, CO and Portland, ME offices, with a handful of employees being fully remote.

Striving for Gender Equality

Inntopia presently employs 47% women across all departments, including 35% women in tech positions (developers, engineers, etc.). Inntopia employed 13% women in tech positions in 2016, resulting in a 169% increase over two years. Such a high rate of increase means the company is far outpacing other tech companies such as Google, which boasts about a 20% female tech workforce.

To further recognize female tech leaders and as part of the company’s devotion to diversity, each of the five conference rooms in the new South Burlington office is named after a woman who had a significant impact in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

The five influential women whose names were selected for the conference rooms are: Mae Jemison, Masayo Takahashi, Grace Hopper, Ada Lovelace, and Katherine Johnson. Upon entering each room, visitors are greeted with a photograph and a short bio of the room’s namesake.

“My eight-year-old daughter has two books full of short stories about female heroes and knows some of the names of the women that were chosen! She was really excited to hear about what we did. It made me really proud of us as an organization, and as a dad to share this enthusiasm with my daughters,” said Ryan Morgan, Senior Engineer at Inntopia.

Inntopia is currently looking for talented individuals to join their team. Top priorities at this time include recruiting a Senior Engineer and System Administrator for the Business Intelligence team. A full list of available positions across all offices can be found on the Inntopia Careers page at https://corp.inntopia.com/about-us/careers/.
