The Vermont Agency of Education is looking to coordinate conversations with schools that can take place during the week long Hour of Code celebration this week, Dec. 3 – 9.

The agency is seeking energetic employees to talk about their career paths or interesting projects that they might be working on.  The goal is to help students get a taste of the career paths available to them once they graduate, especially for those who have an interest in coding and programming.

The agency has created a simple form/survey here to fill out if you or your employees might be willing to share information with a group of students, or a classroom.  This is not a formal presentation, but more of an informal conversation about the work you do.  Someone will help facilitate the conversation – all you need to do is have a computer or device that can allow you to connect via a Google Hangout or a Skype connection. Having some fun, showing some quirkiness, showing something great you created, or posing a challenge to the students can all be part of the exchange.  It doesn’t have to be long - most classes are about 45 -50 minutes, so it is more about the connection and conversation.  Imagine that perhaps these students might be your future employees!

Let the agency know if you can help raise the bar for coding in Vermont during Hour of Code week.  Dec 3-9.  If you have questions, contact Peter Drescher at 802-479-1169 or
