FirstLight, a leading provider of fiber-optic data, Internet, data center, cloud, and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast, announced that it has reached a milestone in Vermont, having added approximately 250 miles of new fiber throughout the state in the span of just over a year.
FirstLight has consistently undertaken projects to expand and enhance its fiber footprint throughout Vermont to meet the continued demand for fiber-based, broadband communications services. The number of route miles of fiber in Vermont now total more than 1,500 miles, with additional expansion planned for later this year, and the number of Vermont buildings on or within close proximity to FirstLight’s network has increased to 3,500.
FirstLight also was recently recognized by BroadbandNow as having the fastest business Internet in Vermont as well as Top Internet Speed Nationwide among mid-sized providers. Through its website, BroadbandNow helps consumers find and compare local Internet service providers.
FirstLight has focused on meeting the communication needs of key industry sectors in Vermont, and now is proud to say it serves some of the state’s largest hospitals, schools, municipalities, and financial services organizations. FirstLight has won a number of high-profile accounts in recent months, including Cabot Creamery, the Town of Bennington, and Tri-State Area Federal Credit Union.
The company also recently launched several new services now marketed to customers in Vermont, including a managed firewall service, a managed router service, and an encrypted wavelength solution.
“The Green Mountain State will remain an important market for FirstLight as the state continues to focus on expanding its industry and growing its economy and we at FirstLight continue to focus on enhancing our capabilities to the benefit of the community,” stated Kurt Van Wagenen, President and CEO.
